How to install

It’s easier than you think to get great results with our products, but to help you do it right first time here’s a step-by-step guide.

1. get cleaning

First, it’s really important that you clean and dry the area you want to cover. Wipe down with warm soapy water and then dry with a cloth or towel – making sure not to leave any fluff or dust behind.

2. Measuring up

Measure the item you are covering carefully (and maybe measure it twice to be sure) and then make a note of the size you need to completely cover the item. Don’t forget to include a little spare.

3. Prepare your vinyl

To make installing as easy as possible make sure you have a large flat space to prepare your vinyl and the tools you’ll need –  a sharp knife or scissors, a ruler and a squeegy to smooth the vinyl out.

4. Measure the vinyl

On a large flat area roll out your vinyl and mark up the cuts you need to make on the back. Most of our products have a handy cutting guide printed on the back to make this easy.

5. cut to size

Using either a pair of sharp scissors or a suitable knife and ruler carefully cut out the vinyl you need for your project. If you will be folding round corned you may want to add corner cuts.

6. peel backing

Things are about to get sticky. Carefully peel back a corner of the vinyl from its backing paper and reveal a 5-10cm strip of the vinyl. Don’t peel back too much or it will be hard to apply without bubbles.

7. slowly apply vinyl

Slowly and carefully stick the small strip of vinyl you’ve exposed to the area you are covering – because carefully not to crease it or trap air bubbles. Slowly release more vinyl from the backing.

8. smooth it out

As you slowly apply the vinyl use a squeegee or the side of a plastic card to smooth any bubbles that get trapped under the vinyl.  It’s important to do this as you go as it’ll be hard to do later.

9. you're done

Once you’ve fully covered your item and tucked in any corners all you need to do is carefully trim any excise with a sharp knife and then wipe the surface down. Use a small pin to remove any trapped air.
